Guide · SurveyMonkey → Notion
SurveyMonkey to Notion without Zapier
SurveyMonkey has no first-party Notion button. Teams usually bridge with Zapier, Make, or Pabbly — or push responses through SurveyMonkey's API / webhooks to a custom endpoint. If Notion is the only system of record and you do not need SurveyMonkey's survey engine, a direct Notion form can skip SurveyMonkey entirely. Here are four routes. No fake metrics or testimonials.
Your four options
| Route | How it works | Cost | Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| SurveyMonkey → Make / Pabbly Connect → Notion | Trigger on a new SurveyMonkey response (or catch a SurveyMonkey webhook), then Notion “Create database item”. Map question answers to Notion properties in the no-code builder. Make and Pabbly both list SurveyMonkey and Notion apps. | SurveyMonkey plan plus Make or Pabbly (often cheaper at low volume than Zapier paid plans). | Two subscriptions for field mapping. Keep this stack when the same response also fans out to Slack, Sheets, or a CRM. |
| SurveyMonkey API / webhooks → your endpoint → Notion API | Use SurveyMonkey’s developer API (or webhook / automation destinations where your plan exposes them) to POST each completed response to your HTTPS endpoint. Your server calls Notion’s create-page API with retries and field mapping. Optional shared-secret header for verification. | Developer time + hosting. No monthly Zapier fee if you already run a small server. SurveyMonkey plan still required (API access is plan-gated). | You own OAuth/tokens, verification, rate limits, schema drift when questions change, and monitoring. Overkill for a simple contact or NPS form. |
| SurveyMonkey → Zapier → Notion | Zapier’s SurveyMonkey ↔ Notion integration: “New Response Notification” (or similar) → Notion “Create Database Item”. Fastest no-code path if you already pay for Zapier. | SurveyMonkey subscription plus Zapier (task limits; paid plans for reliable volume). | Exactly the Zapier bill this guide helps you avoid. Fine when Zapier is already the company-wide automation bus. |
| Embed a form that writes to Notion directly | Build the form in FormToNotion and paste one iframe on your site when Notion — not SurveyMonkey’s survey logic, branching, or paid collector features — is the only intake destination you need. | Free inbox; live Notion sync is a one-time Pro $20 or Business $49. | This does not replace SurveyMonkey quizzes, A/B tests, paid collectors, advanced branching, or response analytics. It does not import past SurveyMonkey responses. |

Setting up the embed route
- In Notion, create a database with the columns you want, for example
Name,Email,Message. - Sign up and build the form, naming each field exactly like its Notion property.
- In Dashboard → Connect Notion, paste your Notion internal integration secret and database id, then share the database with the integration (••• → Add connections). Live sync to your own Notion is a Pro or Business feature.
- On your site, add an HTML / embed block and paste:
<iframe src="https://www.vgt.cc/f/your-slug" title="Contact form" style="width:100%;min-height:640px;border:0" loading="lazy"></iframe> - Publish the page, submit once yourself, and check the new row in Notion.
Stay with SurveyMonkey when…
- You need branching logic, quizzes, A/B tests, or SurveyMonkey collector features.
- A light Make/Pabbly (or existing Zapier) hop covers your Notion field mapping.
- Respondents must stay on a SurveyMonkey-hosted experience you already customized.
Use an embedded Notion form when…
- Notion is the only intake destination and you do not need SurveyMonkey's survey engine.
- You want Notion rows without a monthly SurveyMonkey + Zapier/Make stack.
- The same form also needs a public link or iframe outside SurveyMonkey.
Honest limits
- FormToNotion does not read or import existing SurveyMonkey responses.
- No SurveyMonkey branching, quizzes, collectors, or analytics parity.
- No conditional logic beyond basic field types.
- Field labels must match Notion property names for a row to map correctly.
- The free plan stores submissions in the FormToNotion inbox but does not sync to Notion.
